Chaudhari became the senior-most commander in the Indian armed forces after General Manoj Mukund Naravane retired as army chief on April 30. Naravane took charge as the officiating chairman of COSC after India’s first CDS General Bipin Rawat was killed in a helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8, 2021.

ATAGS clears final User trials, Likely to be cleared for production
ATAGS already had cleared the mobility trials but faced issues with the auto ammunition loading bridge opening operation but most of the technical issues now have been resolved and the gun performed as expected. ATAGS Trials were monitored by a team of officials from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) along with two private companies Bharat Forge and Tata Power SED officials with Army personals.
